Donald Trump confirmed he will meet with the Russian president in Hungary within weeks after a ‘productive’ call.

The US president and Vladimir Putin have ironed out the details of their upcoming meeting in Budapest, set to take place within the next two weeks to discuss the Russia-Ukraine war.

Trump first revealed on Truth Social that the pair will meet before he spoke at a delayed press conference in the White House, which focused on IVF treatment.

He said the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, and Russia’s foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, would make arrangements for the meeting soon.

Trump and Ukraine’s Zelensky will meet in the Oval Office tomorrow, and the US president said he will be ‘telling him about the call.’

He said Zelensky and Putin ‘don’t get along, and it is sometimes tough to have meetings, so we may do something where we’re separate but equal.’

The issue of long-range Tomahawk missiles is likely to take centre stage in the Trump-Zelensky talks tomorrow, and between Trump and Putin.

The US might supply Ukraine with Tomahawks, which have enough range to reach Moscow.

Trump said ‘we need Tomahawks for the United States of America too,’ suggesting that he might be reluctant to supply them to Ukraine after all.

Kremlin is against the rumoured missile deal, with a top Russian aide, Yuri Ushakov, claiming that Trump told Putin during the call that supplying missiles would hamper the peace process.

Meanwhile, Zelensky, who was mid-air on his way to Washington DC while Putin and Trump were on the phone, said Russia is ‘rushing to resume dialogue as it hears about Tomahawks.’

Trump said Putin also ‘congratulated me’ on the Israel-Hamas deal during the call, which has seen the release of hostages and prisoners on both sides.

He said he believes the Gaza plan ‘will help in our negotiation in attaining an end to the War with Russia/Ukraine.’

Trump confirmed that he will meet the Ukrainian president, Volodomyr Zelensky, in the White House tomorrow.

Trump wrote on Truth Social earlier: ‘I have just concluded my telephone conversation with President Vladimir Putin, of Russia, and it was a very productive one.’

‘We also spent a great deal of time talking about Trade between Russia and the United States when the War with Ukraine is over.’

Trump said what will happen after US and Russian top officials will first meet: ‘President Putin and I will then meet in an agreed upon location, Budapest, Hungary, to see if we can bring this “inglorious” War, between Russia and Ukraine, to an end.’

A possible meeting was reportedly confirmed by Ushakov, who said preparations will begin immediately.

Hungarian president Victor Orbán welcomed the planned leaders’ meeting, saying on X that ‘meeting between the American and Russian presidents is great news for the peace-loving people of the world.’

Karoline Leavitt, Trump’s spokesperson, said POTUS believes it is possible to get Putin and Zelensky in the same room.

Trump said Putin also thanked the First Lady, Melania, ‘for her involvement with children.’

In a separate, more menacing post on Truth Social, Trump issued another threat to Hamas, claiming that the armed group ‘continues to kill people in Gaza.’

Trump wrote: ‘If Hamas continues to kill people in Gaza, which was not the Deal, we will have no choice but to go in and kill them. Thank you for your attention to this matter!’

On Tuesday – a day after signing the peace deal – Trump told Hamas that if it doesn’t disarm, ‘we will disarm them’ and that it will ‘happen quickly and perhaps violently.’

Hamas insisted yesterday that it had honoured the ceasefire terms and returned the remains of the hostages it had access to.

The last time the two leaders met was in Alaska in August, when the pair sat down to discuss ending the war in Ukraine.
